‘Rock Band Blitz’ Gets Surprisingly Good Reviews

Back in March the rumor mill began churning to suggest a new Rock Band game was going to be unveiled. This turned out to be accurate, except it was a Rock Band game with a totally different focus than the plastic instrument-led offerings of the past few years.

The game was/is Rock Band Blitz, which sees Harmonix somewhat returning to their roots. The company’s early titles FreQuency and Amplitude clearly inspired Rock Band Blitz heavily.

I wasn’t all that inspired by what I saw from the Rock Band Blitz teasers, mainly because I haven’t yet grown tired of the Guitar Hero/Rock Band style of gameplay. But the reviews have started coming in thick and fast, and lo and behold, they’re mostly positive. As can be seen with this video review from Gamespot.

With the game out on PS3 (PSN download) today, and on Xbox 360 (Xbox Live download) tomorrow, Rock Band Blitz is showing an average score of 78/100 on Metacritic. Which is surprisingly good for a game of this nature.
