It’s now been two years since Rockstar treated the world to Red Dead Redemption, a game that very few people expected to hit as big as it did. It sold in huge numbers and won several ‘Game Of The Year’ awards.
I personally loved Red Dead Redemption. Not only was it my favorite game of 2010 it’s probably my favorite game of this generation so far. This timelapse video from Digital Foundry makes me want to play it again.
This video shows vistas from the game shot over a 24-hour period. We get to see the world of Red Dead Redemption turning, and breathtaking it is too. This demonstrates why Rockstar make the best sandbox games: they create a living, breathing environment and then set the player down in it.
Now all we need is a sequel. Nothing has yet been announced but based on how successful Redemption was Rockstar must surely be working on a new Red Dead game. At this point I’d prefer that to a new Grand Theft Auto title. Let’s just hope we don’t have to wait until the next-gen consoles for it to show up.
