A new old-skool style RPG is on its way to a PC near you soon thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign by Obsidian Entertainment. The game is codenamed Project Eternity, and it’s set to steal the hearts and minds of traditional role-playing game fans everywhere.
Obsidian Entertainment are directly responsible for Fallout: New Vegas, and the team at this independent developer have worked on past titles including Fallout and Fallout 2, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment.
This new game is being positioned as an epic RPG adventure in the style of Baldur’s Gate. Players will create their own character before embarking on a deep and detailed quest with lots of atmosphere, NPCs, and dialog.
After Obsidian failed to get funding for such a game through traditional means, they turned to Kickstarter and asked for $1.1 million. They surpassed that target within 48 hours, and are now pushing for stretch goals. Project Eternity is being targeted for release in April 2014.
