Minecraft is a phenomenon that I don’t understand, if I’m perfectly honest. Perhaps because I have never played this strange sandbox building and survival indie game. I really should because 5 million people surely can’t be wrong.
That is the number of people to have bought the various versions of the game until now, but the latest version for the Xbox 360 has also broken records.
Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has become the fastest-selling digital game of all time, racking up more sales in the first 24 hours than any previous title. It was profitable just an hour after going on sale, meaning the game’s creator Markus ‘Notch’ Persson is now raking in the cash.
Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is available to purchase through the Xbox Live Arcade for 1,600 Microsoft points. Be warned though, this is a stripped-down version of the PC title.
