Just over a week ago Minecraft hit the Xbox 360 as an Xbox Live digital title that can be downloaded for 1,600 Microsoft points. The question now is whether it will ever make it to the PS3? There certainly seems to be a demand for it coming to the Sony console.
Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has broken all kinds of records for digital downloads, with one million people rumored to have purchased the game so far. Minecraft is also available on PC, but no other console. Yet.
Microsoft decided to grab the rights to Minecraft, making it a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360. Possibly for 6 months, possibly for one year. It’s done a similar thing before with the GTA 4 episodes, as an example.
Minecraft would have been an easy port from PC to Xbox 360, but it won’t be quite as easy moving it to the PS3. Whether it will ever actually make it on to the Sony console depends, I suspect, on how far away the PS4 is from making its debut.
