A few days ago the new Metal Gear game, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, was unveiled to journalists at the 25 anniversary celebration of the series in Tokyo. But only a solitary screenshot was released, with those in attendance not allowed to release pictures or video of what they had just witnessed.
Not to worry, as now the first trailer for the game has been revealed. Konami clearly doesn’t mess around when it comes to announcing, and then showing off, their forthcoming titles. Rockstar should perhaps take note.
The biggest revelation is that Ground Zeroes isn’t Metal Gear Solid 5, it will instead act as a prequel to the next full title. And while Ground Zeroes is confirmed to be on its way to both the PS3 and Xbox 360, Metal Gear Solid 5 may be a next-gen title.
Despite, or maybe because of, the trailer being one giant cut-scene, I’m impressed by the visuals. And with the gameplay switching to an open sandbox style (at least to an extent) Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes should be an interesting prospect.
