Ubisoft is working on a game based on The Avengers for Marvel. However, it’s to be based on the comic books rather than the recent movie which took more than $200 million in its opening weekend. It will also only be released for the Xbox 360 Kinect and Nintendo’s forthcoming Wii U console. So expect a motion-control extravaganza.
The Avengers movie has been a phenomenal success already, racking up a higher box office opening than any movie previously released. I saw it myself last week and gave it a positive but not gushing review on At The Movies.
Ubisoft and Marvel have teamed up for this game, the first time they have done so. Announcing the news just after the film came out is a strategy to start building hype early, even though the game isn’t set to be released until at least the end of this year and possibly the start of 2013.
Marvel Avengers: Battle For Earth will be based on the Secret Invasion series of comics and feature more than 20 characters from the Marvel universe as they battle the Skrull.
