Final Fantasy XIII lives on, with another game with that name attached being announced by Square-Enix. This title is called Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and will, unsurprisingly, focus on the Lightning character that has already enjoyed two outings.
Lightning will apparently be a stronger character than she was in either Final Fantasy XIII or Final Fantasy XIII-2. Players will be able to change her abilities by customizing her outfit(s).
Players will also be able to control her in a more dynamic fashion than is the norm in this series, including moving her around during battles. Beyond that the game environment will be new too, as it will run in real-time with Lightning having 13 days and 13 nights to saver the world.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be released for both PS3 and Xbox sometime in 2013.
