There have been rumors for a long time that the original Killzone – released on PS2 in 2004 – would be getting an HD remake and release on PS3. But in February 2012 it was revealed that those plans had been “delayed indefinitely.”
The “indefinitely” turns out to have meant eight months, as on Oct. 23 the game will appear as both a download on PSN and on Blu-ray alongside both of the PS3 titles, Killzone 2 and Killzone 3.
Those buying the physical release will get a single disc with all three games on, the first Killzone having been completely remastered. This should hopefully fix the frame-rate and blurring issues which dogged the original release.
While I’m sure some will complain about Sony cashing in by re-releasing these games as a multi-pack, it’s actually a pretty sweet deal. For $40 you’ll be able to own all three titles in the series. Which is a bargain.
