The first free-to-play title is heading for Xbox 360, with Happy Wars set to land on Xbox Live in the fall. The game, developed by Toylogic and published by Microsoft Studios, is a multiplayer combat game.
Happy Wars sees you controlling a character in the midst of a huge online battle between up to 30 players at any one time. As can be seen in the video trailer below, it looks both manic and lots of fun.
A certain amount of strategy will be needed to do well at Happy Wars, as well as the ability to figure out what is happening as so many people influence the battle on screen. As Happy Wars will be free for all Xbox Live Gold members I suspect most games will be filled.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet it looks likely that Happy Wars will follow the standard free-to-play model. This means gamers will get access to the main game but be offered paid-for upgrades and extras to give them an advantage over others.
