‘Halo 4′ Pushing Xbox 360 To The Limits

Not that Halo 4 needs any more hype attributed to it, but the following will make Xbots get slightly moist in anticipation of the forthcoming game.

343 Industries’ Frank O’Connor suggested recently that the next Halo game, Halo 4, pushes the Xbox 360 to the absolute limit of its powers. During Microsoft’s Spring Showcase event in San Francisco he told Official Xbox Magazine:

“We’re out of space, we’re out of horsepower, we’re out of everything. If you’re doing your best work that machine should be exhausted when you’re done, and we’re getting there. I think the clever thing to do is make your trade-offs early and then go over what you intend to do, and that’s where we are now.”

This suggests two things: Halo 4 is going to be big. Bold. And better than the previous games in the series. Or so its developers believe; the Xbox 360 is on its last legs, with a successor sorely needed.

Unfortunately we still have a long wait to see whether this hype is justified. Halo 4 is set to be released in time for the 2012 holidays… so, eight months and counting.
