Imagine your joy at getting to play the much-anticipated Halo 4 weeks before its official release… and then your despair at being banned from Xbox Live for life for doing so. That’s the present reality for several people.
Halo 4 leaked online earlier this week, with the ISO files hitting BitTorrent where they were snapped up by a sizable number of impatient souls. The source of the leak isn’t yet known but is likely to have been from someone nabbing a review copy of the game.
Some of those people who illegally obtained the game have since received letters from Microsoft stating they are now “permanently banned” from Xbox Live for violating the “prerelease title play” terms of use.
More worrying for Microsoft are the gameplay videos and screenshots being posted across the InterWebs which reveal the surprises built into the Halo 4 story. Still, regardless of this sideshow Halo 4 is guaranteed to sell extremely well when it officially lands on Nov. 6.
