Valve could be about to reveal the existence of Half-Life 3 at Gamescom, the industry trade show in Cologne, Germany, that begins tomorrow (Aug. 15).
This rumor comes courtesy of a PDF document on the official Gamescom website which purports to list all of the expected announcements at Gamescom 2012. Also on the list alongside Half-Life 3 is Dragon Age 3.
After the story broke and the InterWebs broke out in a cold sweat of anticipation, Eurogamer heard back from the show organizers that the inclusion of Half-Life 3 was “a mistake.” However, despite repeated questioning no further explanation was given.
Valve has yet to confirm that it’s even working on Half-Life 3, so an announcement at this stage would be somewhat surprising. Still, stranger things have happened, and Gabe Newell has indicated that there will be further episodes to the Half-Life story, one of which could be considered a sequel.
