Although everybody already knew GTA V was on its way, it wasn’t until Rockstar Games released the first trailer in November of last year that we could be 100 percent sure. The trailer came and went, causing much excitement. And then nothing. Apart from a tumbleweed more fitting of Red Dead Redemption than GTA.
It had been assumed Grand Theft Auto 5 would be released at the end of this year, but British music magazine NME may have revealed more than it meant to in a recent feature titled ’20 reasons to be excited about 2012′. It claimed:
“Expect half the country to retreat indoors and draw the curtains in May when Grand Theft Auto 5 hits the shops.”
This one has to be lodged under the ‘Rumor’ category for now, and as Rockstar is notoriously secretive when it comes to its plans I suspect that will remain the case until the company deems us worthy of knowing when we’ll get to play the latest game in the Grand Theft Auto series. But this is one hell of a juicy rumor.
I for one hope it turns out to be true. I can’t be the only gamer sick and tired of loads of new titles being released just in time for the holidays. I’d much rather the big releases were spread evenly throughout the year. And GTA V is destined to be the biggest game released during 2012.
