The release date for GTA V, just about the most-wished-for game currently in development, has allegedly leaked online via a tweet from Xbox Support. Supposedly in response to a query regarding the Grand Theft Auto series, BB said, “The next title, Grand Theft Auto 5, will be out later this year.” The tweet has since been deleted.
The leak is detailed on NeoGAF, but most of the thread consists of people refuting it. They state that although the Xbox Support Twitter account is legitimate, the person doing the tweeting is hardly likely to have inside information on a Rockstar release.
They have a point. This could be just a case of someone researching the question online and regurgitating what earlier rumors have suggested: that Grand Theft Auto 5 could be released by the end of 2012.
My money is still on an early 2013 release, with May the obvious choice. Rockstar may surprise us all with a shock announcement at E3 2012 in June however. Stranger things have happened.
