At the end of August it was revealed that the Xbox 360 was going to be getting its first free-to-play game. Titled Happy Wars, the multiplayer combat game supports up to 30 people playing online competitively at any one time.
We now know that Happy Wars will be landing on the Xbox Live Arcade on Oct. 12, with Xbox Live Gold members invited to download it for free. It will only cost money to upgrade your character, but doing so is completely optional.
Characters can be upgraded in appearance or by obtaining new equipment. ‘Happy Stars’ collected in the game can be used for upgrades, but the less patient players can instead use cold, hard cash.
According to GameSpot, another free-to-play Xbox Live Arcade game is in development, with third-person RPG Ascend: New Gods expected to launch in the coming months.
