Final Fantasy fans are in for a treat, a huge Final Fantasy XIV-shaped treat titled A Realm Reborn. That’s the name of Final Fantasy XIV v2.0, which Square Enix has announced is coming to PC and PS3 “soon.”
Final Fantasy XIV was originally released on PC in September 2010, but poor critical ratings led to disappointing commercial results. Hence the need for a relaunch. Embedded below is the launch trailer in glorious HD.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has been rebuilt from the ground up, with a new world to explore, a new storyline to follow, and even a new graphics engine. And it’s coming to PS3 as well as PC this time around.
There is no word yet on a final release date, although late 2012, early 2013 is likely. Also unclear is the price that will be charged, as this is an online MMORPG that requires players to pay a monthly fee to get involved. Regardless, after seeing that trailer I’d be very, very tempted.
