The Last Of Us, which has already been teased, provided the impressive finish to Sony’s E3 2012 press conference the company desperately needed. The seven minutes of gameplay footage embedded below tells us much about what to expect from the finished game.
Many people are talking The Last Of Us up as a change of direction for Naughty Dog and suggesting the game is bold, fresh, and innovative. I’m not convinced at this stage.
Don’t get me wrong, it looks phenomenal, but it has the Uncharted DNA running through its core and has a lot in common with that series. The relationship between the two lead characters is interesting, and there is clearly an increase in violence making this one for adults only, but still.
The Last Of Us will probably be most people’s pick for best game of E3 2012, and that may be justified. But let’s not kid ourselves that it doesn’t owe a lot to the already classless Uncharted games.
