An unexpected appearance during the Sony press conference at E3 2012 for Quantic Dream, which unveiled its new game Beyond: Two Souls. This is a PS3-exclusive starring Ellen Page as a mysterious woman with what appears to be a link to the afterlife.
Wow, have you ever seen a better looking game than that? Beyond: Two Souls shows that there is life in the PS3 yet, although part of me is keen to see what Quantic Dream will be able to conjure when we jump to next-gen consoles.
As great as it looks, and it does looks phenomenal, there is one aspect of Beyond: Two Souls that has not yet been revealed: what the actual gameplay is like. It’s easy to assume it will be very similar to Heavy Rain but that game was criticized in some quarters for the lack of player involvement.
To me Heavy Rain was more of an experience than a game, and I’d be happy with another, similar experience. But for those stuck thinking that every game should play like Call Of Duty a little bit more control over the action wouldn’t go amiss.
