Dishonored has been building something of a buzz in recent months, and the review embargo has been lifted today in preparation for its release tomorrow (Oct. 9). So, what’s the general verdict on this new game from Bethesda Softworks?
With 24 reviews in on Metacritic, Dishonored has an average review score of 88. At the high end are perfect scores from The Escapist and GameArena, while at the low end are 80/100 from Giant Bomb and Eurogamer.
The general feeling is that Dishonored offers choice that makes it likely you’ll play through the game many times. The visuals are great, and the storyline is solid. However, there are some nasty AI bugs, and it’s not all that original.
There is also still the question mark over the length of the game, but it looks clear that Dishonored is one of those titles that only gives out as much as you put into it. So a six-hour speed-run will leave you unsatisfied, while exploring everywhere and experiencing everything will leave your need for stealth-action adventure sated.
