Despite the fact that Rockstar released the first trailer for GTA V in November 2011, there is still no sign of the game actually arriving in stores. At this moment no one outside of Rockstar knows when the game is going to be released, whatever yarn they may try to spin suggesting they do.
This week has seen Rockstar clearly upping its promotional push for GTA V, with the release of a number of new screenshots showing different elements from the game. This has inevitably led to predictions and false assumptions being made around the release date.
First came the suggestion from a retailer that GTA V is set for release on Nov. 23, but that turned out to be a false alarm. An anonymous retail source has since stated that he’d bet his life on the game not making it out in 2012. While games industry analyst Michael Pachter has suggested that this increase in information would suggest the release is close, but wouldn’t be drawn any further.
Most people agree GTA V will be out before the end of the financial year in April 2013, but beyond that it’s impossible to say. Rockstar has teased more content in the coming weeks, and that’s as good as it’s going to get for now.
