I wouldn’t put it past Tom Cruise to be playing the media in his divorce from Katie Holmes. An undercover tabloid reporter spied some father/daughter alone time at the Greenwich Hotel when Tom picked Suri up for his visitation during a break from filming Oblivion. I’m guessing that Tom knew that this person was a reporter and was playing it up for their benefit. There is a lot of negative press surrounding Tom, so I wouldn’t put it past him to tell a tabloid to send someone over who is non-intrusive and won’t whip out a laptop and grill his daughter about her crazy father. Just a thought.
The reporter found Tom and Suri in the indoor pool at the hotel and proceeded to ask him how the water was. The only other person present was a security guard outside the door and a lifeguard. He told the reporter, “Yeah, it’s pretty warm!”
The reporter asked, “Are you guys going to be here a while? I don’t want to disrupt your alone time together.”
Tom responded by asking his daughter, “I don’t know. Suri, are we going to be here a while?” She responded in the affirmative.
Tom then told the reporter, “Don’t worry about it. Come on in!”
The reporter details the hour and a half spent with Tom and Suri and how much of a great father he is to her. After all of the water sports, another couple entered the room and realized who Tom was. She said, “So you’re the reason all the paparazzi are outside! Someone told me all this commotion was over Mary-Kate Olsen.”
Tom responded, “Can we please not talk about this? Please, let’s not talk about this, okay?”
You can’t tell me that Tom was okay with this reporter as long as they didn’t recognize him or make a fuss about who they were. But as soon as a likely fan comes in, he gets all nasty? Smells of a setup to me.
