The Daily Show & Colbert Report to return January 7th

I’ve been waiting for this news since the Writers Guild went on strike! Apparently, the producers are pushing John Stewart and Stephen Colbert to go back on the air, with or without writers.

Here’s what the late night duo had to say about the whole situation:

In a joint statement, Stewart and Stephen Colbert said: “We would like to return to work with our writers. If we cannot, we would like to express our ambivalence, but without our writers we are unable to express something as nuanced as ambivalence.”

I don’t think the shows will suffer at all. In fact, they might be better. John Stewart and Stephen Colbert both didn’t get this far not being funny.

All of this remains to be seen, however.
