There was a leak of nine mixed previously unreleased tracks off of the new Guns ‘N Roses album, Chinese Democracy. This guy Skwerl listens to them, deems them legit and great sounding, and posts them on his website. The FBI onslaught ensued and they hauled Skwerl into court for copyright infringement.
Now, former GNR guitarist Slash has to put his two cents in on the whole matter. He says, “I hope he rots in jail. It’s going to affect the sales of the record, and it’s not fair. The internet is what it is, and you have to deal with it accordingly, but I think if someone goes and steals something, it’s theft.”
Chinese Democracy has become a joke in the making for 14 years now. Fans have waited while Axl Rose kept telling everyone release dates and the album never came to fruition. He has made a mockery of the legacy that he made for himself. But for Slash to come to his defense, is just terrible. I once had respect for these guys, but now all is lost.
I do understand that theft is wrong, but maybe someone just wanted to prove that Axl wasn’t lying about Chinese Democracy and it might actually be released in our lifetimes. Who knows?
I think he just needs to mind his own business. Or maybe this is an olive branch from Slash to Axl because his current band Velvet Revolver doesn’t have a singer? Are GNR reuniting????
