Skylar Laine Eliminated From American Idol

American Idol’s resident country singer Skylar Laine was given the boot on the singing competition last night after the nationwide vote determined that she received the lowest score among the top five contenders.

Near the end of the elimination, it was between Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar, who had both put on good performances the night before. The judges gave her performances from Monday night a lot of praise, but America was obviously not feeling it.

Let’s be honest here, she wasn’t the best singer in the competition and her performances on Monday were pretty lackluster. They were “pitchy, dawg.” Seriously. But she did go out on a good note, singing her version of Miranda Lambert’s song, Gunpowder and Lead.

Will the country music community open their arms to the country singer? It’s likely, considering that she was the only country singer left standing as a finalist on the show. Is she the next Reba McIntyre? Highly doubtful, but I imagine that remains to be seen.

What did you think of the elimination? Did America choose wisely this time?
