Russell Brand is hosting this year’s MTV Video Music Awards!

It’s been confirmed that British comedian Russell Brand will be hosting this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. He was in the movie, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but that’s the only thing he seems to be known for here in the States.

The ceremony is going to take place in L.A. on September 7th and it’s been confirmed that the Jonas Brothers will be taking the stage. Also rumored to be performing will be Britney Spears.

MTV says this about his unknown status:

“Did you see Forgetting Sarah Marshall? The English guy? That’s him. He’s known for being more than a little insane, so he’s perfect for this gig,” the statement claims.

The British comedian said it would be “good to preside over what is sure to be only vaguely co-ordinated televised insanity”.

He says, “That’s how I’ve made my name in this country: flying very much by the seat - and the crotch - of my pants.”

Alrighty then, let’s hope that he doesn’t suck as much as Britney did last year.
