Australians have gotten their taste of Paris Hilton and they don’t like her, either.
Paris’ shopping habits have gotten her into the media spotlight down there and the Aussies are all up in arms over the exorbitant amount of money that she’s spending there. They’ve said that she spends $140-a-minute on her sprees.
Forty minutes goes by and Paris has spent $5,560. This wouldn’t really be news here, because she’s got loads of cash and the bubblehead probably spends all day spending it. We’re used to it.
World Vision Australia Chief Tim Costello criticized Paris’ shopping habits, saying that the spree was enough to feed a Third World village.
He said, “In World Vision terms, $5,000 would ensure that a village of 2,000 people in Africa or Asia would have clean water for the rest of their lives.”
Social Worker Les Twentyman said, “It is quite obscene spending money like that. Some people are homeless and thousands of people a week are losing their jobs and it is quite obscene in some ways.”
But, it’s all good because Paris thinks she’s helping out the economy. She says, “I’m in Australia, I think it’s important to help out, you know, the economy out here, everywhere in the world….and what’s wrong with doing a little shopping? It’s New Year’s, I need a New Year’s dress.”
Guess you can’t really blame the people pelting Paris with sand on the beach down there, can ya?
