Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj got into a bit of a scuffle during the auditions for the upcoming season of American Idol. The whole bickering session ended when Nicki allegedly told Mariah that if she had a gun, she’d shoot her. That’s when Mariah beefed up her security.
Even though everyone and their mother at Fox is trying to brush the altercation under the rug, we’ve heard that Mariah might be thinking of walking from the show entirely. Can you blame her?
According to a law expert, Mariah would be within her rights to leave the show should things get too bad. The expert said, “Fox will not be able to force either Minaj or Carey to stick with the program against their will. She [Mariah] can claim a legitimate concern about her safety or at least an inability to fully focus on her role as a judge as a result of this threat. Minaj, on the other hand, will likely face a lawsuit if she quits the program for having brought on the outcome.”
Fox wouldn’t comment on the feud between the judges, but did say, “This is one of the best, most passionate, dynamic and invested judging panels we’ve ever had. We love and support all of the judges and the fantastic work they are doing, and we can’t imagine a better group to find the next American Idol.”
