January Jones used to be the center of Mad Men as her character was married to Don Draper. Then, when she left him and sank her claws into Henry Francis, Betty was put on the sidelines. When she was pregnant in real life with her son Xander, she was put in a fat suit and Betty was suddenly in Weight Watchers.
Since, Don married Megan and Jessica Pare came to the forefront of the show. Apparently that didn’t sit well with January, who was said to be miffed about getting pushed off to the side.
A source said, “January is furious because she pretty much has no storyline this season, not to mention that she has to wear a fat suit! Meanwhile, Jessica is an overnight sensation.”
The source went on to say, “January is so completely jealous that she has been treating Jessica like complete crap. January feels like she used to be the sexy star of the show and now shes’s been downgraded – and it’s really upsetting to her. Plus, she feels downright gross in the fat suit and boring makeup. January had a horrible attitude while shooting. Now, hopefully, she’ll change her behavior before it’s too late.”
I’m not buying this whatsoever. Everyone loves to gossip about shows like Mad Men and I love the show as much as anyone. What really bugs me about this season of the show is how they had Lane commit suicide. Jared Harris is a phenomenal actor and he deserved better. Matthew Weiner commented that he got the idea for Don to fire Lane when she saw a sign that read “Fire Lane” (basically a “no parking” sign).
Everyone wants to make January out to be a pain in the butt, but we’re guessing that she’s not that bad.
