Kristen Stewart is set to play Joan Jett in The Runaways

Fresh out of playing Bella in the vampire movie, Twilight, Kristen Stewart is set to play legendary rocker chick, Joan Jett. The new movie, titled, The Runaways, follows the band’s huge success and breakup after only four years together. The Runaways were comprised of Sandy West, Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Jackie Fox, and Cherie Currie, and split apart due to disagreements over money and the management of the band.

Since the breakup of the band, Joan Jett went her separate ways and formed The Blackhearts. She sang with them and when she couldn’t find a record company to get signed to, she formed Blackheart Records in 1980. She has had a successful solo career, but mostly for her hits from the 80′s.

Joan Jett is involved the movie as an executive producer.

I’m interested to see Kristen make the transformation from Bella, the vampire lovestruck teenager, to Joan Jett, the wild child 70′s and 80′s rocker.
