Keanu Reeves cleared of assault & battery against a photographer

Keanu Reeves has been cleared of charges of assault and battery after a photographer charged that he tried to run her over with his car. An L.A. judge ruled that paparazzo Alison Silva cannot seek any punitive damages against Keanu, even though he hit her with his Porsche in March of last year.

Keanu must have a rockin’ legal team! They argued that she placed her hand on his car and tripped over, while trying to get some candid shots of the actor.

The judge ruled yesterday that Keanu was not acting with any malicious intent. Silva can, however, pursue a negligence claim, which I’m sure is what’s coming next. She has already claimed that her wrist was fractured in a fall after coming in contact with his Porsche. I don’t think that’s his fault either. I’ve seen photos of how the paparazzi swarm on a celebrity’s car just to get exclusive shots and candids. It’s not beyond my realm of thought to believe that she was no different. You put yourself in harm’s way, then want to sue someone because you fall and hurt your wrist? It’s a hazard of the job!

Keanu said in a signed statement that he stopped the car after she fell and brought her some water. He recounted her saying, “I am a paparazzo, he is a movie star. It was an accident!”
