Katy Perry is offering some new insight into her reason for divorcing Russell Brand. In her 3D movie, Part Of Me, Katy was going through her divorce from Russell, and wanted to make sure that she was respectful of him. She didn’t want to show the British comedian in a negative light, but also said that she didn’t ignore the “elephant in the room” altogether.
In a new interview, she said, “For me it was important with this movie not to ignore that elephant in the room. I am not hiding anything, but I had to put it in with integrity and consideration because that’s how I make all my choices, because I believe in karma.”
She also said that she spent a lot of her free time flying back and forth to spend time with Russell, but that he wasn’t returning the favor. She was willing to put her career on hold for the marriage, but he wasn’t. She said, “I always had plans to make this record and usually with a record, you tour a record. Touring is always important to me. It’s like a big IOU to my fans, because I know they are the reason I exist.”
Well, at least they are being civil about it, right? There are couples out there who have children together and aren’t being as nice as these two. So it could be worse.
