Now that Katie Holmes has finalized her divorce from Tom Cruise, fans are wondering how much his controversial religion Scientology played a role in their marriage. Katie was a Catholic going into the religion, but after marrying Tom, she converted and even sung the cult’s praises. And now that she’s no longer with this crazy person, she reverted back to Catholicism.
You have to wonder how much of Scientology’s practices were imparted onto little Suri. When Katie and Tom were together, Suri never seemed to enjoy the company of age appropriate friends. She was also allowed to wear makeup and heels because the religion treats children as “little adults” and allows them to make a lot of their own decisions.
So now that Katie is away from Tom, how much work will she have to do to undo all of Suri’s Scientology teachings? Katie has already had some play dates for her daughter and has enrolled her in Catholic school…
Katie has been busy slowly integrating discipline into Suri’s life, as well. A source said, “Katie is getting Suri to bed by about 8 PM on most nights – she’s trying to put her on a regular schedule. Tom just used to let her stay up all night watching Scientology kids’ videos! Katie’s plan is to get Suri to make her own bed, put away her clothes and help clean up her room.”
Suri is said to be putting up a bit of a fight, but what six-year-old wants to be disciplined? The source said, “There has been some resistance. But Suri adores her mom. So, little by little, she’s starting to listen. Katie is taking things very slowly.”
