Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt’s wedding is not legally binding & is only symbolic (for now)

Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt gave Us Weekly the story of the year when they eloped in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, last week. They provided information to the magazine on the wedding dress, her shoes, their vows, the entire enchilada. There’s only one problem: Their wedding isn’t binding in the state of California, at least not yet.

In a statement, the couple said, “We had a beautiful ceremony here…officiated by a minister and photographed by the hotel photographer. We’ve never been happier. And, like other elopements that happen outside the country, we’ll take care of the legal details when we get home.”

To make their marriage official and recognized here in the United States, they would be required to have a separate ceremony. Which means, that this camera happy, paparazzi loving couple will get to pimp out this crap marriage story to another tabloid for even more cash. If you’re buying Us Weekly just to see Heidi and Spencer’s wedding photos, then you got jipped AND you’re supporting them in their lavish purchases. Just don’t do it, err on the side of caution.
