In case you hadn’t heard, rehabbed actress Lindsay Lohan is set to portray the late, great movie icon Elizabeth Taylor in a Lifetime Movie called Liz & Dick. It’s not some grand movie production, but Liz’s family is said to be miffed that the good folks over at Lifetime couldn’t at least get someone that remotely resembles their screen legend mother.
A friend of the family said, “Liz’s sons, Michael and Chris Wilding, feel there are many other actresses who are far more qualified to play their famous mother. They think gorgeous and talented stars such as Cate Blanchett or Emily Blunt should have been short-listed for the role. Liz’s children feel their mom deserved better!”
The pal added, “Liz was not only a great movie star, but a great philanthropist, and it’s a slap in the face to her memory to have this errant party girl play her. She’d be screaming bloody murder over this whole fiasco!”
Again, they aren’t going to roll out the red carpet for Lindsay and this isn’t some big Hollywood presentation. I get the family’s point of view, though, and they should’ve had some say in the casting decision — don’t you think? Apparently Lifetime lets any ol’ crackie portray our iconic actresses.
