Eddie Murphy just might be bringing Beverly Hills Cop to a television near you! We are actually pretty psyched for this, considering that his recent movies have pretty much sucked. There is one thing you can basically say about Eddie: his movies from the eighties are classic — and funny.
According to reports, Eddie is trying to shell out the idea along with Shawn Ryan to some networks. We haven’t yet heard which of the original characters will remain from the movie to the small screen, but Axel Foley is definitely making a comeback. Axel has apparently moved up in the world since we’ve last seen him and will now be the chief of police. Axel’s son will become the central character on the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Eddie previously said, “I’d do the pilot, show up here and there. None of the movie scripts were right; it was trying to force this premise. If you have to force something, you shouldn’t be doing it. It was always a rehash of the old thing. It was always wrong. What I’m trying to do with Beverly Hills Cop now is produce a TV show starring Axel Foley’s son, and Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit.”
Are you excited to watch the show on TV?
