Courtney Love says Kurt Cobain’s ashes were not stolen

Despite previous claims that a German artist had stolen the ashes of former Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love’s publicist says they were never stolen in the first place.

It was rumored this past May that the ashes were taken from Courtney’s home in L.A., along with thousands of dollars worth of jewelry. Courtney even claimed that she was suicidal over the loss of Kurt’s remains, saying, “I can’t believe anyone would take Kurt’s ashes from me. They were all I had left of my husband. Now it feels like I have lost him all over again.”

Yesterday, German artist Natascha Stellmach claimed to have acquired the ashes and threatened to smoke them as part of an art exhibition. But Courtney’s rep has put all of the rumors to rest, stating that the ashes were never taken and the reports of the theft were untrue.
