Chris Daughtry: American Idol is in a state of decline

Right before American Idol started his seventh season, rocker Chris Daughtry had some things to say about the show. He said that the show is losing its luster and he feels like it’s definitely lacking some credibility. Daughtry didn’t win American Idol, either. But that doesn’t mean that his voice doesn’t bring in the crowds.
He says that Idol head honchos are wasting time with people who suck. I’m pretty sure he is keen to the fact that the viewing public won’t stand for too many more Sanjayas.
Daughtry blames the show’s woes partially on its emphasis on untalented singers. “People get tired of seeing people that suck,” he says. “It’s funny at first, but come on. They spend three weeks on people that can’t sing, and that’s what they’re banking it on. Find some people that you can really invest in.”
Idol producers are counting on the Writer’s Guild strike to boost its ratings for the show early on. I didn’t watch the show last night, did you?
