Cher became the latest victim of a Twitter death hoax, after fans started tweeting “RIP Cher” last night. It became a trending topic, causing the celebrity world to believe that we lost the singer. Kim Kardashian even jumped into the fray, tweeting, “Did I just hear Cher has passed away? Is this real? OMG”.
Alas, we are happy to report that the rumors are not true and Cher is still with us. After Kim’s initial tweet, she followed that up with, “I hope this is a twitter joke and not true. I don’t see it on the news anywhere. I’m praying it’s not true.”
Someone retweeted a fake CNN tweet that said, “American recording artist Cher dies at 65 years old. Found dead in Malibu home.”
We haven’t heard anything as to the reason behind her faked death. Was it a drug overdose? Usually those cretins on Twitter like to have celebrities killed off on the side of a mountain somewhere.
