Amy Winehouse’s cause of death has been confirmed after a second inquest was performed. The results said that she did die from drinking too much alcohol, as the previous inquest stated.
Amy was only 27-years-old when she was found dead in her London home in July 2011. The coroner at the time said that she passed away as a result of alcohol poisoning.
Last year, it was found that the assistant deputy coroner Suzanne Greenaway was unqualified to make that determination. So, as a result, a second inquest was demanded. They were unable to really do any further testing because Amy was cremated, but the second inquest proved that the coroner’s first report was accurate.
The coroner, Shirley Radcliffe said that the official cause of death was “death by misadventure” adding that Amy “voluntarily consumed alcohol – a deliberate act that took an unexpected turn and led to her death.”
Still so sad. May she rest in peace now that her family has the answers that they were looking for.
